Some of the upcoming events for the division.

Lake Hood Spring Stretch (CAC Training Ride) @ DOT Building
Mar 30 @ 18:30 – 20:00

Get out and stretch those rusty winter legs!

The ride will begin 6:30 pm at the DOT ‘Upside Down’ building, please show up a few minutes early. We will be riding 10 to 15 miles around Lake Hood, Postmark Drive and West Northern Lights towards the Clithroe Center and back.

This will be the first ride of the year for the ABC Recreational Division, so we might go out for a bite to eat afterwards.

Remember to bring your helmet as they are required for all ABC rides. Also, a parent or guardian must be in attendance for any riders under the age of 18.

Airport Tour / (CAC Training Ride) @ Earthquake Park
Apr 1 @ 10:00 – 13:00

We will begin 10am at Earthquake Park, please show up a few minutes early.

We will ride around the Airport, to  the Clithroe Center, and through some of the neighborhoods of West Anchorage. Depending on the group and weather we can extend the ride to include a loop around Sand Lake. Expect 15 to 25 miles of riding.

Palmer Area Ride / Buffalo Stampede (CAC Training Ride)

This will be the ABC Recreational Divisions first out of town ride of the season. This ride will ride through Palmer AK, some of the Glenn Hwy, Buffalo Mine Road and the Farm Loop. Come enjoy the views and a great ride! It has always been tradition to have a cup of warm soup and a sandwich at Vagabond Blues after the ride. Expect to ride about 20 to 30 miles.

The ride will begin 11 am at the Palmer Business Park/ADFG Bldg, across from the State Fair grounds and just north of the Noisy Goose Restaurant. There is a coffee stand in the parking lot. Please show up a few minutes early.

Potters Marsh Loop (CAC Training Ride) @ Carrs Huffman

We will begin 6:30pm at Carrs Huffman, please show up a few minutes early.

We will ride from Carrs to Old Seward HWY to the mailboxes on Potters Marsh, back on the Seward HWY to Carrs. If people want to ride a little longer there are options to ride some of the neighborhoods. Expect 15 to 25 miles of riding.

Bartlett Landfill Ride / (CAC Training Ride) @ Bartlett High School

The ride will begin 6:30 pm at Bartlett High School (in the parking lot near the pool), please show up a few minutes early.

We will be riding 16 miles round trip, there is always an option to ride further. Depending on the group and weather we could pedal to the Eagle River Walmart and back again.

Tom’s Tax Day Ride (CAC Training Ride)

It has always been a tradition to ride Tom’s Tax Day ride out in the beautiful city of Palmer AK. Come enjoy the views and returning waterfowl and of course a great ride! Everyone is invited to have a cup of warm soup and a sandwich at Vagabond Blues after the ride. Expect to ride about 20 to 30 miles.

Jodhpur Loop / Sand Lake (CAC Training Ride) @ Carrs Jewel Lake

We will begin 6:30pm at Carrs Jewel Lake, on the far West end of the parking lot, please show up a few minutes early.

We will ride around Jodhpur Loop, Sand Lake, maybe to Kincaid, or some of the neighborhoods in the area. Expect 15 to 25 miles of riding.

West Anchorage (CAC Training Ride) @ Earthquake Park

We will ride the Coastal Trail to Kincaid, then around Sand Lake, through the neighborhoods back to Earthquake park via Lake Hood. Expect 20 to 25 miles of riding.

We will ride to Farm Loop and some of the back roads around Palmer. After the ride we can meet up for a bite to eat.

Expect to ride 20 to 30 miles.

The ride will begin 10 am at the Palmer Fred Meyer, in the east parking lot. Please show up a few minutes early.

We will begin 6:30pm at Chugiak High School, in the parking lot near the pool and football field. Please show up a few minutes early.

We will ride Birchwood Loop to the Airport, Three Bears and back.  Expect 15 to 25 miles of riding.

  • ABC Annual Membership Meeting 10/20/15 6:00pm Guidos

    Annual ABC Membership Meeting October 20th, 2015 6:00pm at Guidos! 

    The Arctic Bicycle Club will hold its annual membership meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Guido’s Pizza on International Airport Road at 6:00 pm

    The meeting is open to all ABC members, and is a time to share with the Board of Directors any thoughts, concerns, suggestions, or requests you have concerning the Club.  Each of the Club’s divisions (road/cyclocross, mountain, recreational) will give a recap of the 2015 season and what to expect for 2016.  The membership will also elect a seventh member to the Board of Directors to join the other six members (two from each division) selected by each of the divisions.  Free Pizza and Soda!  Alcohol on your own.  Join us for some cycling comradery and catch up on what’s been happening in the Club!

  • Arctic Bike Club 2015 Bike Swap, April 11th 12:30-3:00pm

    The Annual Arctic Bicycle Club Bike Gear Swap will be held at O’Malley / AT&T Sports Pavillon in South Anchorage on Saturday April 11th, 2015 from 12:30 to 3pm on the court side.

    This is a no commission, open to the public, no check-in, you buy and sell your self-swap meet style bike swap.

    Plan to use cash. No ATM on site, but several located near by. Some individuals may accept credit cards.

    All items being sold must be Cycling / Bicycling related.

    • OK: Cycling or Cross Sport Clothing, Bikes, Tricycles, Gear, Parts, Bike Racks, Tools, trainers..etc.
    • Not OK: Skis, Camping, Firearms, Knives, Boating, or any other ‘general’ outdoor equipment

  • ABC 2014 Community Cycling Survey

    The 2014 Arctic Bike Club Community Cycling Survey is now Live.

    Please take a moment to complete it as well as distribute the link.

    • The survey will be open November 17th, 2014 -> January 15th, 2015.
    • You do not need to be a member of the Arctic Bike Club (ABC) to complete the survey.
    • All members of the biking community are encouraged to complete it.

    The purpose of this survey is to help the Arctic Bike Club better understand your cycling habits, needs, so it can better service the community. The survey also collects some general demographic information about the South Central Alaska and specifically Anchorage cycling community. Most questions require an answer and some questions will only appear if previous responses enable them.

    Up to 5 of those who have completed the survey in its entirely by the closure date will receive a free 2015 Arctic Bike Club Membership. As well as there may be drawings for other swag depending on total survey response sample gathered.
