The Arctic Bicycle Club Recreation division:

Some of the upcoming events for the division.

Target South Anchorage / (CAC Training Ride) @ South Anchorage Target
Apr 25 @ 18:30 – 20:30

The ride will begin 6:30pm at the South Anchorage Target, please show up a few minutes early. We will be on the far west end of the parking lot.

Expect to ride 15 to 25 miles. We will head to Klatt, the Ocean View neighborhood, possible Sand Lake or even to Kincaid and the Coastal trail if folks want to put in some extra miles.

Goose Lake to Kincaid (CAC Training Ride) @ Goose Lake
Apr 27 @ 18:30 – 20:30

We will begin 6:30m at Goose Lake, please show up a few minutes early.

We will ride from Goose Lake to Kincaid via Chester Creek Trail and the Coastal Trail. We can ride back the same way, or work our way back via Campbell Creek Trail. Expect 15 to 25 miles of riding.

We can grab a bite to eat afterwards if people are wanting to socialize.

Turnagain Arm Metric Century (CAC Training Ride) @ Carrs Huffman

The ride will begin 10am at Carrs Huffman, in the parking lot near the gas pumps, please show up a few minutes early. We will be riding the Seward Highway to the Bake Shop in Girdwood and back. We will have some soup and a bite to eat at the Bake Shop. Expect about 60 to 70 miles round trip.

South Park (CAC Training Ride) @ Potter Valley Road / Old Seward HWY
May 2 @ 18:30 – 20:30

The ride will begin 6:30 pm at the Potter Valley Parking lot at the intersection of Potter Valley Road and the Seward Highway.

Please show up a few minutes early. We will be riding up South Park drive, Rabbit Creek Road, Hillside Drive, Elmore, O’Malley, Lake Otis back to the parking lot. Expect 15 to 25 miles.

Anyone not wanting to ride all the way up to Hillside Drive there can be an option to do less climbing, although either way there will be plenty on this ride.

Peanut Farm Burgers and Brew / (CAC Training Ride) @ Peanut Farm
May 4 @ 18:30 – 22:00

The ride will begin 6:30 pm at the Peanut Farm in the parking lot in the BACK next to the SOURDOUGH MINING COMPANY. Please show up a few minutes early. This ride will ‘require’ you to stop for a burgers and a brew after the ride!

Expect to ride for 1.5 to 2 hours. We will ride the Campbell Creek paved bike trail to Sand Lake and back. This will be a good chance to discuss the Clean Air Challenge weekend.

  • ABC Annual Membership Meeting 10/20/15 6:00pm Guidos

    Annual ABC Membership Meeting October 20th, 2015 6:00pm at Guidos! 

    The Arctic Bicycle Club will hold its annual membership meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Guido’s Pizza on International Airport Road at 6:00 pm

    The meeting is open to all ABC members, and is a time to share with the Board of Directors any thoughts, concerns, suggestions, or requests you have concerning the Club.  Each of the Club’s divisions (road/cyclocross, mountain, recreational) will give a recap of the 2015 season and what to expect for 2016.  The membership will also elect a seventh member to the Board of Directors to join the other six members (two from each division) selected by each of the divisions.  Free Pizza and Soda!  Alcohol on your own.  Join us for some cycling comradery and catch up on what’s been happening in the Club!

  • Arctic Bike Club 2015 Bike Swap, April 11th 12:30-3:00pm

    The Annual Arctic Bicycle Club Bike Gear Swap will be held at O’Malley / AT&T Sports Pavillon in South Anchorage on Saturday April 11th, 2015 from 12:30 to 3pm on the court side.

    This is a no commission, open to the public, no check-in, you buy and sell your self-swap meet style bike swap.

    Plan to use cash. No ATM on site, but several located near by. Some individuals may accept credit cards.

    All items being sold must be Cycling / Bicycling related.

    • OK: Cycling or Cross Sport Clothing, Bikes, Tricycles, Gear, Parts, Bike Racks, Tools, trainers..etc.
    • Not OK: Skis, Camping, Firearms, Knives, Boating, or any other ‘general’ outdoor equipment

  • ABC 2014 Community Cycling Survey

    The 2014 Arctic Bike Club Community Cycling Survey is now Live.

    Please take a moment to complete it as well as distribute the link.

    • The survey will be open November 17th, 2014 -> January 15th, 2015.
    • You do not need to be a member of the Arctic Bike Club (ABC) to complete the survey.
    • All members of the biking community are encouraged to complete it.

    The purpose of this survey is to help the Arctic Bike Club better understand your cycling habits, needs, so it can better service the community. The survey also collects some general demographic information about the South Central Alaska and specifically Anchorage cycling community. Most questions require an answer and some questions will only appear if previous responses enable them.

    Up to 5 of those who have completed the survey in its entirely by the closure date will receive a free 2015 Arctic Bike Club Membership. As well as there may be drawings for other swag depending on total survey response sample gathered.
